[Character]
Character Name: Captain Steve Rogers
Source: Captain America: the First Avenger/Avengers (Marvel Cinematic Universe)
Personality:
Steve Rogers is someone who never learned the meaning of the word ‘can’t.’ Despite being told over and over that couldn’t accomplish the things he dreamed of, he never believed those who criticized him. His mother told him that his heart was too big for his body and it was true. His life wasn’t easy, filled with loss and illness, but he became mentally stronger and more compassionate because of it. For years, he was weaker and smaller than those around him, yet he never backed down from fighting for what’s right, even when that meant that he would get hurt doing so.
His father was killed during the First World War and later, his mother died of the tuberculosis that she contracted while working as a nurse in a TB ward. Because he had no other family, Steve lived in an orphanage where he was prone to illnesses, contracting many of the childhood diseases of that were common during that era, most of which could have killed him. He was small as a boy, bullied so much that he was almost hunted by the gangs that lived in his neighborhood. Instead of hiding or submitting to the bullies’ whims, he fought back, even when this meant he was beaten regularly for his refusals.
Steve doesn’t know when to run, even when that would be the easiest solution to a problem. He is steadfastly loyal to both the people he cares about and his ideals, defending both without hesitation or fear for his own safety. When others are worried about enlisting and being killed overseas during World War II, Steve doesn’t have second thoughts about wanting to become a soldier. It’s the right thing to do and he believes that he’s needed in the fight. When he learns that his best friend has been captured by the enemy and presumed dead, he sets off to rescue the Allied prisoners, unable to give up when there was a chance that Bucky might be alive. During his last mission during the war, he sacrifices himself to protect others, certain that he will be killed, but knowing that he has no other choice if he is going to defend the country that he loves.
The super soldier serum he was given had the ability to emphasize the best and worst in a person, making a good person better and a bad person worse. The majority of the changes the serum made to Steve were physical, making his body match the spirit that it held. Even with his new strength, he remembers what it was like to be weak and is grateful for the chance he earned. He never forgets what it was like to be the skinny kid from Brooklyn who was beat up in alleys. That physical strength also helps indulge a thrill-seeking streak that is hinted at when he parachutes behind enemy lines or rides his motorcycle on missions. He enjoys the adrenaline rush and simply being able to do such things now that he is healthy.
He spent his childhood dreaming of becoming a soldier, but as an adult he trained to be an artist until word of the attack on Pearl Harbor, throwing America into the war. Steve tried to enlist numerous times, but was rejected because of his medical history. Even though it was against the law to lie when enlisting, Steve still gave false information, hoping to find someone who would give him a chance to prove himself.
This wouldn’t be the first time Steve went against what was technically correct to do what he believed was morally right. If orders or the law stands in the way of helping others or doing what Steve believes is the right thing, he will ignore what is technically correct and deal with the consequences of his actions later. When he rescues Bucky, he defies his orders, sneaking past enemy lines to save his friend and the other prisoners. After Steve returns them all to safety, he presents himself to his commanding officer to be punished for his actions. He knows that he acted against his orders and will accept the consequences without complaint.
Steve is a gentleman and a romantic. His thinking may be progressive, believing in each person’s worth being based on ability not gender or race, but he still has the manners of a man from the 1940s. He’s the type who stands when a lady enters the room and holds a door open for her because that’s how a lady should be treated even when the ‘modern’ world tells him that such behavior isn’t appropriate. Politeness and courtesy toward others are part of his nature, as are kindness and compassion. He spent most of his life ignored by the women around him despite Bucky’s attempts at finding dates for him. When asked why he had never learned to dance, he answers that he had never found the right partner. After he’s given the serum and declared a national hero, he ignores the women who are impressed with the stories about him, preferring to wait until the war is over to have that dance with the woman he’s fallen in love with instead of accepting an offer from someone he doesn’t care about. He’s gotten over most of his shyness, but occasionally he does revert back to that awkwardness he’d had when he was younger.
History/Pull Point:
Wiki Entry on Captain America: TFA
Steve is pulled about six months after he’s revived from being frozen in the arctic. He’s had time to acclimate to the fact that over sixty years have passed since the plane crash and is beginning to accept that the people he cared about have either passed away or have moved on and have new lives that he can’t be a part of like he’d been before. He hasn’t met the other Avengers that will eventually be a part of his team, but he has read their files so he has a basic idea of who they are.
Abilities/Special Powers/Non average skills:
Steve was given a combination of the super soldier serum and Vita-Rays, which altered his physiology so that his body is at the peak of human performance. It affected his strength, speed, and agility. It also enhanced his senses and memory. His immune system was improved by the procedure so it is almost impossible for him to become sick. Drugs and alcohol have little effect on him due to his metabolism running about three times faster than the average person’s. Most magic can physically affect him, but he is resistant to magic that alter the mind both because he is so strong willed and he was trained to resist mind control as part of his training during the war.
During the course of the war, he was trained in many forms of hand-to-hand combat and the use of a variety of weapons. Despite these skills, he is most famous for the circular shield he carries into battle. It is made of rare metal called vibranium, which is almost indestructible, incredibly light, and impact resistant. Steve uses it to deflect weapons and enemy fire, but his greatest strength with his shield is his ability to throw it almost like a Frisbee, hitting a target directly or by causing the shield to ricochet in a way that will hit the target.
[Game Specific]
Character class: Knight
Why your character would be that class:
Even though Steve shares some similarities with a variety of different roles, he would best fit in as a knight. He is loyal to the people he cares about and to his ideals, willing to risk himself to protect them. His entire life has been spent defending those who are weaker from the bullies of the world, whether they’re hecklers in movie theaters or the Nazis in Europe. Even when the bullies were twice his size, he never backed down from a fight, sheer stubbornness and his absolute conviction that he was doing the right thing keeping him going when most people would give up.
Even though Steve is an orphan and could be seen as a runt before the serum, his sole asset wasn’t luck. It was his mental strengths that caused Doctor Erskine to notice him for Project Rebirth. Steve earned his good fortune through hard work, intelligence, and compassion. He never has seen himself as lucky and believes that he has to live up to the ideals that Doctor Erskine wanted for his research. He was chosen because Erskine believed he would value what the serum would give him and Steve always tries to live up to the doctor’s wish that he be ‘not just a super soldier, but a good man.’
Powers/skills to be gained by being that class:
Steve wouldn’t gain any skills or powers from being a knight since the serum enhanced his physical abilities.

Log sample:
The moment consciousness settled over him, Steve knew that he wouldn’t wake up in his Brooklyn apartment or one of the beds in the S.H.I.E.L.D infirmary. He kept his eyes closed, taking in his surroundings, slightly disorientated but feeling no sense of urgency that he was in danger, just a certainty that he wasn’t where he was supposed to be.
The warmth of sunlight. A cool breeze carrying the scent of wildflowers. Grass brushing against his body and…
The sound of something big moving somewhere nearby and getting closer.
He jerked upright, on his feet instantly, instinct kicking in before he realized what he had heard.
A horse. A huge, white horse with gray markings and matching socks grazing contently at some of the grass that was part of the meadow he’d been sleeping in.
Steve turned around slowly, taking in his surroundings, trying to figure out where he was. Grass. Trees. Sky. The horse and…
He wasn’t in his t-shirt and pajama bottoms or one of his uniforms, but the weight pulling at his body reminded him of the gear he’d worn during the war. Some kind of medieval armor, but battered and mismatched like it’d been pieced together instead of being part of a complete set. And, a few feet away, a shining sword resting on his familiar circular shield.
Bending down, he picked up his shield, the sword momentarily forgotten as he slid his arm through the straps, wondering where and when he’d woken up this time.
Orb sample:
[Steve stares at the horse, unsure of what he’s supposed to do with it. It – no, she – looked like a fine animal, built more like a Clydesdale than the dainty horses he’d seen in the illustrations Arthurian knights he’d studied as a kid. At least the mare wouldn’t have a problem carrying him and the armor he’d found himself owning along with his new form of transportation. Except, he really doesn’t know how to deal with a horse.
He’d grown up an orphan in Brooklyn. He’d rarely seen a horse, let alone ridden or cared for one, and in Europe he’d ridden motorcycles. Horses are something he’s completely out of his depth with.
But she seems friendly enough, rubbing her nose against his shoulder as he tugs on the pendant he’d found along with his new possessions, eying it warily as it detached itself to expand and transmit a message. It’d been easier to get used to cell phones…]
I – um - seem to have gotten a horse when I arrived here. Could someone help me find a place to stable her and show me how to take care for her? [He pauses, smiling sheepishly as the mare begins investigating his hair.] And maybe show me how to ride?
